Ever find yourself scrolling through Instagram envious of the fashion ‘it’ girls? How they seem to own not one, but an array of the coolest and most current designer bags – Because same. How I’d love to drop thousands of dollar’s and buy all the bags i.e. the Gucci marmot bag, the Prada casher bag or the Chloe faye bag (just to name a few from my Wishlist, but I could buy LOT’S more bags) but I can never bring myself make the splurge, or ‘splurges’ in their case.
If I was going to invest in that staple – go to – ride or die designer bag I’d have to rationalise the purchase somewhat. The easiest way being the cost per wears method. For example, the Chloe Faye bag. In my humble option is a staple bag that is basic enough to go with most outfits. The bag cost $3,140 (months of rent, I am aware). If I wore that everyday for a year (365 days) that’s $8.60 per day, per wear. About the cost of two small coffees. Though that in theory doesn’t seem tooooo expensive, fashion for me is about variety, being able to express your style and change things up depending on your mood. To be fair, 365 years is a short time frame. When it comes to investing in a designer bag you definitely get what you pay for and usually will outlive it’s style. This all being said, I do not want to have the feeling of guilt about upgrading or changing things up – and neither should you. Below are some of the coolest staple black basic bags I’ve found searching every corner of the internet. All under $500, which you can update and rotate between whenever you wish whilst looking almost as cool as the ‘it’ girls – minus a few filters – and still be able to pay your weekly rent.
